2 Chronicles 7:13-15

Hello everyone.

Happy new year everyone. I hope and expect 2007 to be a real year of growth and breakthrough for Fire outreach.

Anywho, a word from 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 ;

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open, and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place

So, as of late I have been struggling with dryness. This is not a medical condition. It is a spiritual one. Perhaps you have been feeling a little spiritually dry lately, and therefore I hope this word speaks to you.

I feel like my heavens have been shut up, so there is no rain. I feel like I haven’t been hearing God like I used to, experiencing his presence as much as I would have liked. For sure, we can struggle against it, hide it, curse at it, try to fight against it, but I feel that Verse 14 tells us exactly how to deal with spiritual dryness, and I would like to concentrate on this verse.

If my people- We belong to the most high God
Called by my name- We are individually, personally, chosen by God and set apart for his work. We are sons and daughters with Christ. Awesome.
Humble themselves- Humility isn’t a natural human virtue. We love the spotlight, to be recognised for what we do, to receive what we see as our just rewards. Humility is sometimes very hard for Christians to take on – it means realising they are nothing and God is everything. I find that getting on my knees or face before God is a humbling experience, and I myself find this one way of humbling myself before God – you don’t even have to say anything.
Pray- We all know what the right prayers are to pray. However, we need to rise above the “right prayers” if we are to overcome dryness. Tell God honestly what is on your heart – he can see it all anyway. Be honest before God. Try doing it more than once. Prayer should be a constant thing – we should be in everyday communion with God – it is our right and privilege as Christians.
Seek my face- The bible says seek and ye shall find. I think this verse means we should look to God in everything we’re doing. God wants to be a part of all of our lives – seek his will for even the mundane things. Let his will be done. In the words of Larry the Cucumber, “God’s way is the bestest way, and that’s the way for me”. Let’s seek God will, and live it out, and then will we see his abundant blessing on our life.
Turn from their wicked ways- Finally, repent! Often the reason we feel dryness is because we become subject to our circumstances and sin, rather than rising above it to the higher calling God has for us. Turn away from anything that is holding you back from the life in abundance God has for us.

I feel this verse is like a natural progression – it shouldn’t be something that we overly struggle with. Firstly, we need to humble ourselves. When we get the revelation of being nothing, and letting God be everything, then we begin to get an unction to pray - we rely on God so fully when we are humble before him. As we begin to pray, we begin to seek God’s face. Our prayers take on a more urgent and passionate form – it is not enough for us to pray, but we seek God’s face in everything that we do. When God’s will is revealed to us, naturally we turn from our sin, and wicked ways. We love God to much to let ourselves become bogged down in the things of this world.

I always find I get things in the wrong order. So often I try and turn from my wicked ways before I pray. Where does the power to change come from unless I have sought God’s will for my life? Often I try and seek God’s face before humbling myself. I feel like I’m searching for what God wants without having broken my own pride. God can’t reveal his will if I am going to hold on to my own desires for my life.

When we take these practical steps in our lives, then can we receive the blessing of the rest of the passage:

Then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

The New Year

Hope you guys are all getting 'settled into' 2007. Whatever the Lord has put on your heart for 2007, keep it always in prayer that He will give you the strength to stand no matter what comes up against you.

Also, in terms of unity, just keep your eyes on God. Keep the youth group in prayer, keep the vision in prayer, keep each person in prayer. Bless each other. Pray all over one another.... Let us not rest in our calling, in our faith, in our love, but let the living water flow.

‘I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvellous love. And may you have the power to understand as all God’s people should how wide, how long, how high and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.’ Ephesians 3 v17-19

What about the what ifs!

You are standing in a supermarket line. You have a tract ready for the lady at the checkout. You've given out tracts at checkouts before. You have it down. You simply say, "I have something for you that you may like to read when you have a minute." Then you check out. You get away fast. You have learned to conquer your fears.
But as you wait this time, you hear "Price check!" and your heart sinks. You know that you will now be waiting in line for a few extra minutes. You shake off any thoughts of impatience because you know that you shouldn't have them.
As you stand in line, you hear a muffled male voice behind you. He isn't so patient. Your heart skips a beat because there are now three or four others standing in the line behind him. Oh dear. You feel a tinge of fear grip you as you prepare to turn around and offer a million dollar bill tract to the man. That's when the "What ifs" kick in. They begin with "This isn't an ideal tract situation. You are not walking away from the checkout. You are stuck in line. What if you give him a tract and he reads it out loud? It's happened before as you walked away from a checkout, and it made you smile as you heard "The million dollar question? Will you go to Heaven?" You smiled because you were leaving. But what if this man reads it while you are stuck in line? What if other people hear him? Imagine the whole line of people looking at the back of your head as you stood there, thinking, "Religious fanatic!"
Or what if he asks what it is that you gave him? Then what are you going to say? Even if you are able to find the courage to mumble that it's a gospel tract what if you have to speak loudly, and the people behind him hear you?
Kirk and I were in our Way of the Master Radio studio recently when the what ifs hit. Todd Friel (our co-host) said, "If you are not a Christian, and you would like to talk to a dreamy Hollywood actor, call in. We would love to hear from you."
We smiled as we waited for some sweet talking starry-eyed Growing Pains fan to call in and hang onto every word Kirk said. A moment or so later we heard, "We will have a commercial break, and then we will come back to Tim from Connecticut."
Kirk and I looked at each other. This was no wide-eyed, infatuated female fan. This was Tim from Connecticut! Connecticut is the home of Yale University. What if Tim was an Einstein anti-Christian intellectual? Having the gift of insight, I remembered that the word "intimidating" contained the word "Tim." What if Tim hated Growing Pains, and what if he especially hated Kirk?
A few minutes later Kirk was witnessing to Tim. He was a Roman Catholic, and he was questioning the unbiblical practices of his church. What's more, he was a soft-spoken, humble-hearted sincere seeker of truth. A week later he called back and had been born again.
What ifs are lies from the father of lies. They rarely materialize, but they are the fertile soil in which paralyzing fear thrives.
A week or so earlier, Kirk and I were conducting a conference in a church in Louisiana. As we walked into the lobby we saw a painting of a coliseum in Rome. In the painting a huge crowd had packed into the massive stadium. Huddled in the middle of the arena were about sixty people.
A closer examination revealed that they were made up of a few elderly men, and the rest were women and children. Around them stood wooden crosses upon which a dozen or so men were cruelly impaled. At the base of each cross fires had been set to slowly burn those who were already enduring the agony of crucifixion.
Their pain-filled deaths were no doubt slow enough to make sure that these witnesses of Jesus of Nazareth were witnesses of a terrible horror. At the edge of the arena stood a massive lion, and directly behind the hungry beast, a ferocious tiger was entering the scene. The dying men were about to observe the grizzly sight of their precious loved ones being torn limb from limb, no doubt to the roar of a blood-thirsty and delighted mass of spectators.
These men, women and children were martyrs, who chose death above deliverance because they refused to renounce their faith in Jesus. They were unashamed to bare His reproach. These precious brothers and sisters in Christ make me feel ashamed of my shame. Their torn limbs, spilled blood, and burned bodies stand as a stark testimony to my cowardice.
The word "martyr" and the word "witness" come from the same Greek word. I am called to be a martyr for Christ as I stand there in that supermarket line. But I am not called to die for Him. Not yet. I am simply called to live for Him. I am to be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is my reasonable service.
If fear begins to torment me in the supermarket line, I have to deal with it. And I deal with it by thinking of the courageous martyrs in that arena. I deal with it in the shadow of their agony. I deal with it by considering my wretched fear of looking foolish in my comfortable life, and their incredible courage in their terrible death. I deal with it by thinking of the liberty that I have to walk out of that supermarket and go home to my loved ones. I deal with it by thinking how pathetic I must look to God, as He considers their honorable humility and my horrible pride.
And I deal with it by looking to Jesus, the author and the finisher of my faith, who for the joy that was before Him, endured the agony of the cross, for me.

I am convinced of the following- Everything flows from prayer! Our lives- everything from our church life and work and pleasure life- should mirror the time that we have spent in the prayer closet. We as Christians are only as powerful as the measure of faith that dwells in us! So if the prayer lines in your life are not set up as they should be then your effectiveness as a Christian will reflect that.

The same is to be said of the word. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God!
How can we expect to be fully flourishing as disciples if we can't even master the basics- WORD AND PRAYER!

Many times we run around trying to find all the spiritual fixes of the day, and perhaps in all that running we undervalue the power and purpose of the prayer meeting and general bible study.
If you've got issues and problems in your life and you're wondering why everything is up and down all the time, consider this- "Is my prayer and word life at the place it should be?"

But here's the deal- if it's not don't beat yourself up and get condemmed. Stand up and get moving as there's always time to get right with God and find the joy and purpose that only He can give you!

Today is a new day. Perhaps it's your day.

Victoria College Prayer Room Update

So this afternoon was excellent and very encouraging!
Johannes, Pete and myself went down to visit the Victoria college prayer room being headed up by amongst others Laura and Amy!
It was a tiny wee room with lots of different subjects on the walls though u could tell it was a room set aside for prayer as the walls were also littered with encouraging verses , prayer requests, " the vision" (see archives for copy) oh and the giant "Prayer Room" sign stuck on the outide of the door!
We had a good time of prayer today, praying for the work down there and for the people who lead it. It really encouraged me when a few ladies came in whom i had never met and i briefly told her what it was (she must have by passed the giant sign) and what we were doing!
I encourage everyone who reads this to get praying for this prayer room initiative, that it will succeed despite opposition to it. From being there i can really tell that the Lords hand is upon this work, Let us keep it in our prayers and also let us come to a place of expecting excellent things from it in the coming year.

The sound of the coming rain

What is the sound of the coming rain? Where is found the cry of a million hearts as they endure the calm before the storm? Is it not within your heart? Is it not within the heart of the bringer of the storm, the one who sends the rain?

Here within the heart of the father I find the fire and the water. I find Judgement and Mercy, peace and fervour juxtaposed as if they were natural bedfellows. But then, they are. Here in the heart of the father, the fires of love burn brighter and hotter than the fires of hell could ever dream of burning. The sound of a father’s heart-cry echoes and reverberates in my ears, silencing the noise of a thousand earthly worries, which pale in the light of the strength and compassion found in this place. The intensity of this heart is overwhelming. It is intensely fervent and intensely restful all at once. It is intensely satisfied and intensely hungry at the same time. I cannot bear such an intensity, it would show up a lacking in my heart, but cannot because its intensity is such that it envelopes my shameful efforts of love and fire. My own love, my own strength, my own desires, my own life, are consumed in His. My heart is ravished, snatched from within me by such a passionate and yet so gentle a lover. ‘His desire is toward me’! How sweet those words as they fall on my aching ears, still ringing from the sound of his heart-beat, the noise of a love so deep and fiery.

Can my heart respond in any worthy way? No word or song could ever express the answer to this love. No daring act or extravagant gift would hold sway with one who could give and love so generously. And thus I arrive at my frightening conclusion. This Love demands my heart, my life my all. Nothing less than everything will do. Every last drop of blood and sweat; every last ounce of energy; every breath, every waking moment- He is worthy of it all. If the intensity of His love could be expressed so completely in this crude act of sacrifice- this bloody man hanging on a roughly-hewn cross, blood pouring from gaping wounds, sweat dripping down over a pain-wracked body, as the most painful blow is struck, ‘why have you forsaken me?’- then my sacrifice must be no less. It should not be enough for me to simply say- I give you my time, or I give you my emotions. Everything must go. The enormity of THAT is devastating.

Hey all!

Jesus is Lord!! I want to take this time to tell u of something is happening again beginning the last saturday in march and most likely every last saturday of every month. Street ministry is beginning again on the streets of lisburn and belfast ,so if u are interested in getting back into "outreach" this is definatly for u ! This year we have signed up stevie blair who is very enthusiatic about evangelism and speaking about Jesus ! so i hope u can all make space on your schedules for this.

note: It will also be on the same week as the mi/ WOW groups.

my name is ian i have recently moved 2 belfast and have been saved by our lord jesus christ i was walking in the city centre when i came across a number of youths from your church i currently attend whitewell tabernackle and found your members friendly and accomadating i would like 2 commend them on there speechs which i myself could not do but i do try to pass the word on by handing out leaflets and attend the tabernackle 5 times a week keep up the good work and god bless all your members

hi ya julie here i pray things are well and good with you and your church how is joan i was not able to contact her if you can will you say that i said that she is in my prayers and everytime i see her wooden box that she gave me warms my heart some days i pick out some verses from it. Iam suse you are busy getting orginsed for christmas in your church. We have a fella called Eugine Smith from canada coming to annalong on this thursday he is a bible teacher, he was here before he is very good any events or guest speakers let me know whats happening we usually have a prayer meeting on thursdays so let me know if any one needs prayer and i have mentioned your church to the ones in annalong so we are praying for your church and the young ones. Get ready

Well, seeing as posts seem to be disappearing from this blog, I thought I’d strike a blow for the working man, and stick something up here. It’s just a little prophetic insight into what we are currently experiencing and what will happen in the coming months.

At the minute we are in a time of preparation. Relationships are being rebuilt and consolidated. New bodies are being added, in order that we might receive the gifts and talents which they will bring to the group. People are receiving a seed of desire- an awakening to the desperate need for the Fire of God and the Love of Christ. People are also becoming more outreaching in their attitude. The desire to see souls saved and disciples made is increasing.

These are all good things.

In the next few months we are going to experience a time of change. Something is coming which is going to transform our lives, both individually and corporately. I don’t know what it is yet, but from the things which we are experiencing at the minute, I would guess that it may be a fulfilment of our renewed desires. I warn people now- be careful what you wish for- because God just might answer with Fire.

It is therefore of utmost importance that we prepare our hearts now. Draw near to God, in order that when the storm comes you won’t be swept away. Increase your prayer burden; increase the fervency with which you pray; increase your intimacy; increase your worship. Let’s get ourselves ready- It’s coming and it will come whether we are ready or not. Even though we may not know exactly what ‘it’ is yet, it’s imperative that we get ready.

Edification week...in other words, be nice to people to make them feel good :-)

Hey hey

For all of you who are not aware, this week is edification week (actually every week should be, but this week we are making an extra special effort)!!!
So in keeping with what some of us have been doing all week, I thought it would be nice to make public announcements about people on the blog, to edify their Spirit :-)

So..this morning I have decided that my blog edification goes to.........Bekki Bates, Bekki Rodgers and Pete :-)

Bekki Bates...you have a wonderful heart, you are an amazing person, you always make me feel loved and I like the fact that when you ask how Im doing you genuinely wanna know! You have so much love to give and you freely give it...hang in there, keep on trusting God (even on those days when its hard to find Him), He loves you immensely for who you are, He made you who you are for a reason, and He has a great plan for you...keep seeking!! xx

Bekki Rodgers...you have so much more to offer than you know! There is stuff that God wants to use you in that can only be fulfilled cos you are who you are! Please trust in the Lord to lead you, its hard out there in the big bad world, but i still believe that you are that beautiful flower, and God is developing you from that small bud to a blooming and bright flower that stands out amoung all the rest! Hold onto God's promises for you, never give up, listen to your heart...not your head!!! xx

Pete...you are a mighty man of God, and that just totally shines through you so much! You are an encourager, just like Barnabas...Barnabas gave Paul a chance when no-one else would, and as a result we can now read some of the most God inspired pages in our Bible! Keep on encouraging people, it can effect people to move, to keep going, to hold on, to believe in who they are in Christ!! Continually hold onto who you are in Christ. You are a man with a great heart for the word of God and it amazes me how much I can learn from you! I love you mucho mucho, keep on keeping on, never let that fire be extinguished :-) xx

A change if u will of eternal significance...

As FIREoutreach or youthgroup or whatever let us be people who get up every morning as if we do it on purpose.......Guys we all get out of bed the same way....Feet first.. After that its up to us....Now the change is this ....Let us be men and women who do the walk as if they meant the walk on purpose....Layin aside all the heaviness that so easily entraps us ...

I heard a song a while back in fact im listenin to it as i type ....the words go "Glory land is not that far away" well to tweak it alittle i could say that Glory land is wherever we bring it ....be it in the midst of sheets (paper or otherwise) or in school or answering the phone. "Hello this is Belfast school of Music" ..

Let us walk up being prepared , perhaps the challenge is to not leave the house until we have read alittle or prayed a little , Let us get equipped....

When we have the full armour on we will find it hard to sit down , be it in self pity or condemnation....I think we wear it for one reason " for protection when fighting ....

So guys let us fight ...... Fight as we mean it with all our heart to take hold of the crown.

The dawning of the 21st century finds the church of America and the west in a moral and spiritual crisis. Decades of self-centered living and worldliness have taken their toll. Years of compromise and toothless gospel preaching have had their effect. And now we have reached the moment of truth: Either we wake up, stand up, speak up, and act up, or we run the risk of becoming a mere historic curiosity, an irrelevant religious sideshow, an entertaining, harmless spectacle. Something must change, and it must change now. There is no other choice.
Forty years ago, a counterculture revolution swept through America and the west, resulting in a sudden, steep moral decline. Since that time (from the early ’60s until today), the divorce rate has doubled, the teen suicide rate has tripled, reported violent crime has quadrupled, the prison population has quintupled, the percentage of babies born out of wedlock has risen six-fold, and couples living together out of wedlock has risen sevenfold. And the end is not in sight.
The last generation’s counterculture of rebellion has become this generation’s establishment of revulsion, and what was unthinkable forty years ago – daytime talk shows celebrating adultery and incest; homosexual love scenes on major network TV; eleven year-old multiple murderers; massacres in our schools and houses of worship – is a matter of course today. We need a revolution!
But this revolution will be different than other revolutions – including the revolution that birthed our nation more than 200 years ago. This revolution will not be fought with earthly weapons of destruction – not with guns and knives and bullets and bombs. It will not be fought with hatred, anger, intimidation, or brute force. No. It will be fought with the message of the gospel, with the love of God, with the power of the Spirit, with radical holiness, with sacrifice, compassion, and courage. It will be a Jesus revolution, an intense clash between two spiritual kingdoms, a heavenly attack on the enemy’s strongholds, a no compromise stand for morality and truth. And it will impact society in a lasting way. It must!
Revolution means upheaval. Revolution means the overthrowing of the status quo. We dare not downplay the significance of the word. Revolution is a matter of life and death, and our revolution flows from the blood of the Savior to the blood of the martyr. We put down our sword and take up our cross, overcoming Satan by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of our testimony, and by not loving our lives so much as to shrink from death (Rev. 12:11). Nothing can stop a revolution like this!
Our revolution is fueled by the power of the gospel, and the gospel does violence to the forces of hell. We must recover the fullness of the gospel of Jesus! It is nothing less than a direct assault on the kingdom of Satan, a frontal attack on hostile, spiritual powers, a mortal confrontation of light against darkness. It brings about the ultimate counterculture conflict.
That’s why Jesus said to His disciples, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed My teaching, they will obey yours also” (John 15:18-20).
That’s why Paul explained that “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim 3:12), reminding the disciples that, “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22). God’s people march to the beat of a different drummer. God’s obedient people will always offend the world, no matter how much we seek to be peacemakers and to walk in compassion and love. Our very lifestyles are a reproof to the ungodly.
That’s why Joseph Parker could say more than a century ago, “The man whose little sermon is ‘repent’ sets himself against his age, and will for the time being be battered mercilessly by the age whose moral tone he challenges. There is but one end for such a man -- ‘off with his head!’ You had better not try to preach repentance until you have pledged your head to heaven.” The gospel means conflict and confrontation, and all who stand for righteousness will be resisted.
That’s why Jesus was accused by his own people of being “a Samaritan and demon-possessed” (John 8:48), why Paul and Silas were accused of “throwing cities into an uproar” (Acts 16:20) and “causing trouble all over the world” (Acts 17:6), why Paul himself was mistaken for being an “Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the desert” (Acts 21:38). The gospel is subversive. The gospel is a threat to the kingdom of darkness. The gospel is revolutionary.
We’re in a war, and war means conflict, hardship, and sacrifice. As Leonard Ravenhill wrote, “When a nation calls its prime men to battle, homes are broken, weeping sweethearts say their good-byes, businesses are closed, college careers are wrecked, factories are refitted for wartime production, rationing and discomforts are accepted -- all for war. Can we do less for the greatest fight that this world has ever known outside of the cross -- this end-time siege on sanity, morality, and spirituality?”
Satan’s strategy is to institutionalize the Church, to turn the Body of Christ into a powerless religious system. If that tactic fails, he tries to desensitize us and lull us to sleep until we lose our convictions and our sense of outrage is gone. And he is always seeking to seduce us into sin until we become just like the world, enslaved by its passions and lusts. And when he thinks he has succeeded, when he no longer feels threatened by the people of God, then he gets aggressive and brazenly puts forth his agenda. He’s doing it today. We need a revolution!
The cat is out of the bag. The secret is no longer a secret. Anti-God forces are after the soul of our nation, and if we don’t wake up now, if we don’t take a stand now, if we don’t repent and pray and rise and speak and act now, then instead of this great country being “the land of the free and the home of the brave” our nation could become “the land of sleaze and the home of depraved.” We need a revolution!
DNA tests to find out who fathered the baby are here. (In fifteen of our nation’s largest cities, more than 90% of the babies born to teens are illegitimate.) Legalized same-sex “civil unions” are here. Children’s textbooks encouraging adolescent fornication are here. School hallways splattered with teenage blood are here. Bans on using the name of Jesus at our graduations are here. Topless, feminist “worship services” on our college campuses are here. We need a revolution!
We live in a time of ethical madness and social uncertainty, a time when talk of a moral revolution should be everywhere. Instead, the best-selling “revolutionary” books are books about new diets. What does this say for us as a people? When we need to be talking about the call to die for the gospel, we are talking instead about the call to diet for good looks. What a sad indictment! And what does it say of our self-deception and lack of discipline when we are at one and the same time the world’s best-read nation on diet and nutrition and the world’s most obese? Even our pets are overweight. We need a revolution!
The United States boasts the highest percentage of professing evangelicals in the industrialized world, with more than 36% of Americans – meaning more than 90 million people – classified as born-again. Yet America has:
• The highest percentage of single-parent families in the industrialized world• The highest abortion rate in the industrialized world• The highest rate of sexually transmitted diseases in the industrialized world (the rates of syphilis and gonorrhea transmission are almost 500% higher than the highest rates in the other industrialized nations)• The highest teenage birth rate in the industrialized world (by far!)• The highest rate of teenage drug use in the industrialized world
We need a revolution!
Our society is deteriorating all around us and even non-believers sense that something is wrong. Why? It is because we, the people of God, the army of the Lord Jesus, the messengers of liberation, the ambassadors of reconciliation, have been sidetracked by the love of this world and distracted by the cares of this age. As a result, we have not changed this generation. This generation has changed us!
Rather than seasoning the world like salt and brightening the world like light, we now smell and taste like the world, and its darkness is snuffing out our lamps. Rather than setting captives free by the power of Jesus’ blood, many of us are being ensnared and enslaved, making a mockery of that sacred blood. Rather than making disciples of sinners and teaching them the ways of God, many of us are being discipled by them, learning their ways, imitating their lifestyles, and conforming to their values.
A 1997 survey conducted by George Barna used 152 different items to compare the church and the world. He found virtually no difference between the two. In fact, the divorce rate today among evangelicals is higher than the divorce rate among atheists. We need a revolution!
Communist educators visiting America have been shocked by the materialism and worldliness of many of our Christian young people, while Islamic leaders are appalled by the rampant sexual sin and shameless immodesty among many who profess Christ as Lord. The ideals of the unsaved are often more lofty than the ideals of the saved. We need a revolution!
Just consider how far things have fallen, despite decades of 24-hour gospel radio and TV, hundreds of Bible colleges and seminaries, thousands of Christian schools and bookstores, and churches and ministries too numerous to count. Forty years ago, men having sex with men and women having sex with women was considered perverse. Now it is considered perverse – homophobic, hateful, mean-spirited, and bigoted – to call such behavior wrong. We need a revolution!
Forty years ago, not even science fiction writers would have predicted that American companies would be making money off the sale of the skin and brains and limbs and spinal chords of aborted babies. Today, Congress will not even pass legislation to make this thriving practice illegal. We need a revolution!
Jesus rebuked the leaders of his day who said of themselves, “If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets” (Matt 23:30) – and then they took part in shedding the blood of the greatest Prophet of them all. How hypocritical! Yet we do this very thing, saying, “If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in the detestable sin of slavery. We would never have tolerated such evil. We would surely have done something about it.”
Yet on our watch, in our day, we have tolerated an even more heinous sin: the slaughter of forty million babies in their mothers’ wombs. In what way have we been better than our forefathers who tolerated slavery – or better than the European “Christians” who tolerated the Nazi extermination of six million Jews? How much have we really done to stop this generation’s holocaust?
Bloodshed pollutes the land (Num 35:33), and the blood of these helpless victims – oceans of blood of these aborted little ones – has been crying out for justice for decades. What will our God do? We need a revolution!
In 1960, only 2.3% of percent of white women had children out of wedlock. By 1997, more than 25% -- a ten-fold increase! – were having children out of wedlock (despite millions being aborted before they ever left the womb). In the African American community, that number rose from 23% percent to more than 68%. We need a revolution!
In 1962, the Supreme Court outlawed organized, public prayer in our schools (without citing a single historic precedent to back its decision), and we complied with that ruling. In the year 2000, the Court has banned voluntary public prayer in our schools. Why have we complied with this ruling too? At what point do we say, “We must obey God rather than man”? At what point do we say, “Enough is enough”? We need a revolution!
On April 12, 2000, at Pearl River Central High School in Carrierre, Mississippi, the Spirit of God fell upon the students attending a voluntary, pre-class assembly led by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As students lined up fifty deep to confess their sins and get right with God and one another, the principal, Lolita Lee, herself a Christian, decided to let the meeting go on through the day. Civil libertarians were outraged, but, as Time magazine reported (June 5, 2000, p. 61), “The school received hundreds of congratulatory e-mails. ‘Thank you for your courage,’ wrote an Ohio man to Lee. ‘You have done the equivalent of not moving to the back of the bus.’” Isn’t it time we follow suit? If not now, when? What more needs to happen?
For more than two hundred years, the Bible was commonly used as a textbook in our schools, and generations of children learned the ABC’s with a Scripture truth for each letter. But in 1963, the Supreme Court banned required reading of the Scriptures from our schools, and once again, we complied with the ruling. Why? By 1980, the Court had ordered the removal of the Ten Commandments from public view in our schools and by 1985, it outlawed benedictions or invocations in formal school activities. Some lower courts even ruled against students praying out loud over their cafeteria meals. We need a revolution!
When the governing authorities seized the apostles and charged them not to speak in Jesus’ name, Peter replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:19-20). And they kept speaking! As a result, they were arrested, whipped, and strictly ordered not to speak any more in Jesus’ name. But, Scripture records, “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah” (Acts 5:41-42). Can we learn something from this?
Christians around the world today are severely persecuted because they refuse to obey oppressive, unjust laws. Many of them are model citizens in every way, obedient, respectful and peace loving. But when the government – or religious establishment – forbids them to read their Bibles, forbids them to baptize, forbids them to share their faith, forbids them to gather together, forbids them to make disciples, then they say with the apostles, “We must obey God rather than man.” At what point does this apply to us?
Our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world have been discriminated against, deprived of their livelihoods, imprisoned, tortured, and killed, all because they refused to render to Caesar that which does not belong to Caesar. Yet we are afraid to take a stand for Jesus if it would threaten our income, or cost us a scholarship, or make us unpopular. Why this double standard? Why do they refuse to comply – even when threatened with imprisonment and death – while we willfully comply, even when there is no threat? We need a revolution!
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were commanded to worship an idol or be subject to a fiery death, they refused to bow down (Daniel 3). But today, with no one commanding us, we freely worship the idols of our society, bowing down to the gods of unclean entertainment, sensual fashion, and unbridled materialism and greed. Our obsession with sports is idolatrous as well, to the point that many churches throughout the land make sure their Sunday services end in time for the afternoon football games, canceling their meetings entirely the night of the Super Bowl. We need a revolution!
When Daniel was told that an edict had been passed declaring that “anyone who prays to any god or man during the next thirty days, except to [the] king, shall be thrown into the lions’ den . . . he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before” (Daniel 6:10-12). It’s time that we follow his lead. Godly defiance spells triumph while retreat spells defeat. We need a revolution!
Year by year our religious freedoms have been taken away, while special rights and freedoms have been given to those whom the Bible calls “unrighteous” (see 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; in the Scriptures, homosexual activity is classified along with adultery, fornication, theft, drunkenness, hatred, anger, greed, and hypocrisy, and all who practice such things are called “unrighteous”). Thus the Supreme Court ruled that a school full of Christians cannot choose to have prayer before a school sporting event since it would offend and exclude the minority who don’t want to pray. But when homosexuals introduce children’s textbooks into our schools outlining in graphic detail the intricacies of gay sex, the offended majority is told to accept it. Right is now wrong and wrong is now right, and the will of the godless is imposed on the will of the godly. We need a revolution!
When a gay man is beaten to death because he is gay – this is a reprehensible, despicable act that every decent person should abhor – it causes a national uproar, with loud voices in the government calling for new legislation against hate crimes. And we should speak out against such deplorable crimes. But when Christians students are shot to death as they profess their faith in God, the government raises its voice to forbid the placing of memorial crosses on school property. The handwriting is on the wall. The strategy is clear. We need a revolution!
Teachers in our public schools can give condom demonstrations to our teens and use books like “Heather Had Two Mommies” to teach our kids to read, and we are required to support this with our own tax dollars. But let a teacher read from the Scriptures to a seeking, needy student, and that teacher could be out of a job – all because of the First Amendment’s so-called separation of Church and State.
But that is not what the First Amendment intended. It simply stated that, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” meaning, first, that the government could not form a national denomination (like the Church of England of old) and require all Americans to be part of it, and second, that there would be religious freedom for all. As emphasized by Stephen Carter, professor of law at Yale University, “The wall of separation of church and state is not there to protect the state from the church; it is there to protect the church from the state. It stands as a divide to preserve religious freedom. And one needs to protect the church from the state because the latter will utilize its enormous powers to do what the state has always done – either subvert the religion or destroy it. If we continue our slide toward a state that breaches the wall of separation whenever it is convenient, then I worry about the great risk to religious freedom. In the end, such a breach could destroy our ability to form the communities of resistance that are crucial if we are going to have a chance to transform the nation.”
Our forefathers wanted to ensure that the government would not be able to impose its will on the church. For more than one generation now, this has been totally reversed and stood on its head, and the price has been very high, with skyrocketing crime rates and plummeting rates of morality and literacy. And what has become of the First Amendment’s guarantee of “the free exercise” of religion when the courts tell us that we cannot use religious symbols on public property, cannot post the Ten Commandments in government buildings, and cannot use the name of Jesus in public school events? We have lost our religious freedom. We need a revolution!
In 1999, a bill was brought before Congress that would have required businesses – which by implication could have included churches and religious institutions – to hire gays and lesbians if they were qualified for the job in question, despite their sexual preference. And the bill failed by only one vote! Even more distressing is that if the bill did pass, there was another bill ready to follow, calling for a ban on even speaking against a person’s sexual orientation. (A similar bill has now been passed in Canada.) Such speech would be deemed hate speech, punishable by law, and potentially meaning that a pastor simply expounding the Scriptures to his flock could be arrested. Yet this is the very thing from which our Founding Fathers were trying to protect us. So much for the First Amendment and religious freedom! The fact that such laws could even be crafted for Congress proves that we have long since passed the breaking point – yet some Christian leaders would have felt obligated to obey these laws if they had passed. We need a revolution!
We have gone from debating a woman’s “right to choose” to sucking out the brains of third trimester babies (with the backing of the courts!), from arguing about the medical definition of death to legalizing physician-assisted suicide, from needing metal detectors at airports to needing metal detectors at schools (and soon at houses of worship?), from tracking down absentee fathers to trying to figure out who the father is, from the outlawing of mandatory school prayer to the outlawing of voluntary school prayer. We need a revolution!
Without a holy, counterculture revolution, America could become a society where candid religious expression is outlawed, a society where it is almost impossible to keep our children free from the pollution of the world, a society teetering perilously close to the thunderous judgments of God. Such things have happened to other nations, and such things could happen to us.
But all is not lost! The gospel has changed societies before, and the gospel can change societies again. For countless centuries, India engaged in the practice of widow-burning, where the widow of a deceased man was sometimes burned alive with her husband’s corpse. This horrific practice was outlawed through the tireless efforts of missionary William Carey. Both slave-trading and unjust child-labor laws were abolished in Britain through the fearless work of the Christian political leader William Wilberforce. And this followed on the heels of England’s transformation through the sacrificial labors of John Wesley and his Methodist followers, saving the nation from the anarchy and violence of the French Revolution. Around the world today, whole communities are being impacted by united prayer and evangelism, and here in our land, there is a rising momentum of concerted, twenty-four hour worship and intercession not seen for decades.
There are pockets of spiritual renewal throughout the country, and the tides of a radical youth revival are rapidly rising. Another Jesus people movement could be near, a heaven-sent revolution far greater than the worldwide Jesus movement of 1967-1975, when hundreds of thousands of hippies and radicals were swept into the kingdom. Even now, it is at the door. And not only will multitudes of lost sinners be truly saved, but multitudes of casual church goers will also be truly saved. Just think of what would happen if even one-quarter of America’s professing believers got totally and uncompromisingly right with God – and then each of them touched just five or six other people. It would quickly reverse our nation’s moral decline. Despite our perilous condition, it’s still not too late!
If our nation could be changed for the worse in one decade – this is what happened in the 1960s, despite progress in Civil Rights and some other social areas – it can be changed for the better in one decade. If angry student protests on college campuses could help stop an international war (Vietnam), what could holy student “protests” on our campuses accomplish?
America can be impacted for the good, and as followers of Jesus, we are called to make that impact. We do it by walking in the light, as He is in the light; by calling the lost to turn back to God in repentance; by preaching the gospel and making disciples; by proclaiming liberty to the captives; by pursuing righteousness in every area of public and private life; by acts of kindness, mercy, and compassion, overcoming evil with good; by prayer, fasting, and the power of God; by living holy lives and setting holy examples; by being a prophetic voice and a moral conscience to society; by Spirit-led community involvement and godly political action; by non-violent resistance of injustice and oppression.
What else should Christians do? Should not the presence of tens of millions of believers be felt in a nation? Should we not make a difference for God? Should we not be a force for spiritual and moral reformation? Should we not actively extend the kingdom of God? Should not the Great Commission leave tangible results in its wake?
This is our sacred moment, our solemn time for action. If we will unshackle ourselves from the love of this world – from our lusts, our addictions, our obsessions – and give ourselves wholly to the purposes of God, we can shake this nation. If we learn the principle that to save our lives is to lose our lives, while to lose our lives for the Lord is to save our lives, then we can really live. As Martin Luther King declared in 1965, “A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right; a man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice; a man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true.” It’s time we take our stand!
The counterculture revolution of the 1960s began when people said, “Something is missing. Something is wrong. There must be something greater than this.” And they were right! There must be something greater than eating and drinking, working and sleeping, existing. There must be something greater than the American dream. There must be something greater than simply getting a good education so that you can find a good job and have a good family so that your kids can get a good education and find a good job and have a good family so that their kids can a get a good education . . . . Is this really it? Is this why God put us here on this earth? There is more!
Our goal is revival, not survival, the transformation of the human race, not the preservation of the human race. There is a divine purpose and destiny to our time here on earth. Even atheistic revolutionaries understand that there must be a higher purpose to life, and they give themselves for their cause, freely dying for their revolution so that their families can live in what they hope will be a better world. And they do this without the promise of heaven or eternal life. How much more should we give ourselves to the cause of our Master? How much more readily should we hear the call?
Nate Saint and Jim Elliot, martyred as missionaries in 1956, understood this well. They recognized that life was far more meaningful, far more rich, far more significant than most of us ever realize, even if we live to be 100 years old. As Nate Saint wrote, “People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget they too are expending their lives and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.”
Yes, everyone’s bubble will burst one day. The dust will return to dust and the spirit will return to God who gave it (see Ecc. 12:7). On that day, only one thing will matter: Did we fulfill the purpose of God? Did we make a lasting impact for Jesus? Did we leave behind a blessed legacy for the generation to come? All the silly little things that seemed so important to us during our few years here on earth will seem utterly insignificant when they are viewed in the light of eternity.
How wise it was for Jim Elliot to write these now-famous words: “That man is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” And how wise it was for him to lift up this petition before the Lord as a young man in college: “God, I pray, Thee, light these idle sticks of my life and may I burn for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life, but a full one, like you, Lord Jesus.” Oh, that all of us would lead truly full lives!
Columbine martyr Rachel Scott was not wrong when she wrote in her journal, “I have no more personal friends at school. But you know what? I am not going to apologize for speaking the name of Jesus. I am not going to justify my faith to them, and I am not going to hide the light that God has put into me. If I have to sacrifice everything, I will. I will take it. If my friends have to become my enemies for me to be with my best friend Jesus, then that’s fine with me.” Jesus is worth it to the end!
Fellow-soldiers, holy servants of the risen Lord, blood-bought disciples of the Master, heed the call. It’s now or never, time to put up or shut up. Either we take a stand once and for all or forever we hang our heads in shame. History is eagerly anticipating our next move. This is the hour we have been waiting for. So, on with it – by life or by death. The revolution won’t wait.

Ive been listening to Hillsongs and Delirious today - Unified Praise album (its great!)
Anyway... I was listening to it in the car and Martin Smith said this really cool thing, he said "God is looking down and Hes smiling cos He sees a broken and fatherless generation, and hes let them be a dancing generation and the reason is becasue this is the revival generation."
WOW! How cool is that? God has given us, this generation, the opportunity to see revival! Life can be hard at times, and there is no doubt the Christian life is a hard one! How about we dance anyway? I wanna dance like ive never danced before, in this time I wanna dance like I might never get another chance to dance! I wanna dance for Jesus the mighty King, I wanna dance with no inhibitions, I wanna dance like no-one is watching! Despite what people might think or say I wanna dance, distractions behind I wanna dance, eyes fixed on Jesus I wanna dance, forgetting my 'reputation' I wanna dance!!! Im so excited I cant sit still, God has blessed us with so much, He has given us a flippin good reason to get dancing!!
I wanna be part of a generation that dances for Jesus despite brokeness, a generation that dances when its tough and that dances when its all going great! I wanna be part of the generation thats filled with love and joy and the Spirit, a generation that dances its way to victory, that dances its way to revival!! Praise Jesus :-) xxxxxxxxx

Don't even think about giving up!!!!!!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven. Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up.
(Hebrews 12 vs 1-3, New Living Translation)

WOW! Mission was truly amazing and I think these verses sum up a lot of what I got out of it! God spoke to me so much over the two weeks about not giving up! So now, I wanted to share them with you to encourage you and strengthen you in your faith.
There are certain parts that really got me - lets strip off every weight that slows us down! Its so easy to pick up a load of baggage in life, there seems like so much we need to think about, so much we need to worry about, so much we need to care about and give time to...and it can weigh us down! Christ came to give us freedom but its so easy to get into a stage of trudging along 'bound in chains.'
Let us run with endurance, the race that God has set before us! That means never giving up. If an athelete trains for a race you can be damn sure they are determined to finish the race, regardless of how tired they become, how much their legs start to ache...and God has a set a race before us that we need to run with endurance, it gets hard, we get tired, we wanna give up at times and sometimes is hurts to keep going, but lets endure as Christ did!!
The other thing about an athlete is that while they are running a race, they have a fixed focus - the finish line. They dont run along waving to the crowd, looking all around, they have their eyes fixed on the goal, the reason they are running - to win, to reach the end! I have been learning a lot about what happens when we take our eyes off our focus - Jesus! It makes the race a lot harder to finish thats for sure!
So lets not become weary and give up - Christ suffered so much for us, He endured whatever was necesarry to fulfill that race that He ran while He was here on earth! And if He can do it - we can do it in His strength!

Maybe that was a bit waffly (sorry), but its really been on my heart to share that - I have had a bit of a rough, unfocused, few months, and I havnt made it yet - but I know that I have God on my side and that with His help I can keep on running! Hope there is someone out there who might be encouraged by it :-)

Finally....thank you to everyone who made Mission Team the great success it was! I cant believe its all over (sniff sniff) Sevie B - u were a stress head at times, but you did a totally amazing job at holding everything together! All the guys who helped in worsip - Doo,(watch ur head on that mic - one day u wll head butt it), John,(road rage queen) Billy K (LEGEND beer drinking buddy), curly Dave (energetic monkey who always made me smile watching his craziness), Dave the Champ (a true champ forever - U rock!) - sorry if I forget people Im tired!
And totally just everyone who was there - thanks so much for all your encouragement to me, I love you all so much!

Mission Harvest 2005

So this is kinda an update on the last mission team to Northern Ireland. i dont really know what to say, because so much stuff happened over the past two weeks..but il give it a go.

We had some amazing people who joined us on the team this year, and one thing that was really excellent was the perseverance of everybody, how well everybody got on with eachother, and how it was sweet to just have some awesome fellowship that i hope will continue in both youth groups despite the fact that we're in different countries.

Worship was definately one of the biggest breakthroughs, with many people really pressing into the Lord and going places with Him that they never even knew existed, which was really amazin and i think that God was really testing peoples faith, including my own, especially in areas such as perseverance. the worship was totally anointed, and it was so cool that we had loads of people leading worship. The spirit was just poured out on everybody because of such a want and a heartcry from Gods children, people just continue that and keep pressing into the Lord, coz he'll hear you and will bless you.

Another thing i think that God completely broke through in was the streetpreaching, it was mindblowing to see so many young men and women of God pouring out their all to God through talking on the streets and just giving their heartscry to belfast, so many people out there need it no doubt, so thanks to every single person on the mission team who gave out tracts, talked to people, spoke on the black box, it was really awesome. hopefully that'll continue this year and we'll go out loads more and talk to the kids at city hall. another thing that i think God had put on loads of peoples hearts are the kids that dont know God, and a real burden for the unsaved.keep breaking before the Lord for these people, and im really excited and happy that so many people have this burden, its awesome.

wow, it was just an amazing mission team,. true the only one i was there for the whole time, but it was just really blessed. the day trips were just so much fun, swimming in the sea, wading in the sea kinda half dressed! climbing all over castles, picking flowers in the rose gardens at lady dixons (oops), swimming and walking in tullymore forest, trying to climb walls....the list goes on and on. even cooking (yippee!) was so much fun, however it was kinda a draw between 3 teams..so yeah. there we have it. mission harvest '05

Im sure that those of you who dont walk around with your eyes closed all day will have noticed that meetings have been somewhat dispersed lately!! I know you will understand that the reasoning behind this has been that...well basically there has been no-one around to actually have a meeting!
However, tonight....................(drum roll please).......................THERE WILL BE A MEETING :-) At least we will attempt to have one anyway, not sure what the numbers will be like or how we will sort worship etc, but we won't worry about the logistics for now, just turn up and we will see how it goes :-)

Random Thoughts

Hi Guys

There is no particular reason for this post - just a little randomer - like me :-)
This past few months has been a bit of a roller coaster for me - up and down seems to be the way of it - not the steady walk I once had, that we should all strive to maintain!
I guess I just wanna say thanks to you all really - you guys at Kingsway have been such a great support and encouragement to me, and in times when i have felt like I wanna give up, there has always been someone there to give me a hug, a word of ecouragement or a swift kick up the backside (well needed at times) haha!
The Christian life is most definately not the easiest one, and its so easy to be discouraged and burderned by stuff of the world - I just wanna encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus! Its only when we take our eyes off Him that things seem worse than they really are! I believe that there are things in life we feel we cant face, or at times, we just dont wanna face! We need to strive on, holding onto the promises that we have been given - He will never leave us or forsake us. We have been called to a battle, and we fight against principalities and powers, no fight is easy - thats why its called a fight! But at the end we are assured of Victory!! I guess Im sick of paddling around in the shallow end of the waters, and I just long to jump into the deep waters and be consumed! Thats something that is done by choice - and I know sometimes its just such an easy thing to say, but hard to do! I almost feel a little hypocritical writing all this, cos Im not sure Ive jumped in yet....but I know that I wanna...and with prayer and seeking the Lord I know its a jump I can make!
Lastly, I wanna encourage you all to encouarge each other...as Steve reminds me so often, we are a body...we all work together and look out for one another! Thats the amazing thing about being a group of young people in community with each other and with God...no-one goes it alone! We need to pray for each other - I mean PRAY! Not simple, empty words, but seek the Lord for each other - I know I need prayer, and unless we have all made it to that state of perfection (maybe not?) then I reckon we could all do with some prayer!
Im really looking forward to moving to Dunmurry where I can be closer to you guys and be there for you more than I can be now...Im looking forward to watching us grow closer as a body, as a family! Praise the Lord for all He has given us, we have so much to be thankful for...sometimes best to look at those things than the crap that means nothing...I think its time the devil stopped having fun with my life :-) The flesh will die :-)

Mission Harvest 2005 Update

Some more info guys .... I will keep it coming as i get it.

The dates are from the 22nd of july to the 6th of august 2005

The price for the mission for the 2 weeks is gonna be 60 pounds, This only needs to be payed if u intend to eat 3 meals a days with us. The 60 pounds also covers trip expenses and bus hire. If u intend to only come for a few days or just here or there , prices will be worked out per meal u eat or a seperate trip price.

This year noone under the age of 18 may SLEEP inside the church , Around 12 or 1 am when the church closes for the night , anyone under that age would need to make their own way home.

I shall keep u updated as i get more news

Friday Night Fire @ MCB

G'day folks

Just a reminder that the long awaited FIRE@MCB will be tomorrow, Friday 13th at 7.30. It will be just like a normal Fire only there will be other people from other places there- Bring as many of your friends as you can- it would be nice to reach as many people as possilble.

Trevor will be preaching and the band will be leading worship as usual. If you need any help getting to methody, or want to know anything more then give me a ring. We will be in the chapelof unity, which is right at the middle of the malone road campus. if you go right up the main drive way and past the big concert hall then the chapel is the building which looks like a chapel on your left.

Please pray like crazy as there will be some people there who really need to meet the spirit of God in a real way. This has been a real vision for a long time and we've been trying to get it going for a long time. May the Lord have his way on the night!

The prophetic annointing

Some years ago, one of the founding fathers of Kingsway church propesied that the spirit of Prophecy was going to be absent from the church for a period of time. Well, the time is up, and God is restoring the annointing for prophecy! And let me tell you guys, I'm clearly seeing it taking effect in the youth especially. Recently, times of worshiphave been filled with propetic words, from all different people, and god is giving people words for their brothersand sisters-

Last night's bible study was an awesome example. we did the study and then midway through God gave me a prophecy- only one problem, it was in a different language. Luckily God has also poured out the gift of interpretation, and everyone who was there interpreted part of the prophecy. Then as we were praying over one another, everyone got words for each other. It was awesome!

But further to that, God has also brought personal healing to me! At bible study last night we had a time to pray over one another. The lord spoke to me very clearly and so I asked the guys to pray for me. i had been having pains in my chest for about 3 weeks, and i had noticed that the ribs on one side of my chest bone were sticking out more than on the other side. God told me that i had a tumour on my chest, but not to worry as he was going to use the three girls (noelle, julie and laura) to heal me. so i told them all this and got them to pray for me and they all began weeping andcrying out to God. after about literally 1 minute i heard God say- thats it, you're healed- and i began to laugh in the spirit- The girls were all still weeping and i just sat there and laughed into my hands for a bit- then i said "hey guys cheer up- its gone already- but i have a pain in my back if you would be so kind..." It was awesome. when i stood up i felt my chest and its back to normal- the ribs are sitting just right- and the pain has GONE! PRAISE GOD!

So be encouraged in this time, receive the annointing that God is releasing. Lose yourself in his spirit. the Father is truly giving good gifts to his children!

Up On The Mountain

Hi Guys :-)

You may be aware that Stevo, Doo, Caroline and myself went on a little camping excursion on Sunday and returned dirty, greasy and smelly on Monday afternoon...
Wow...it was amazing! Do you ever just look around at the amazing stuff God created...rivers, grass, flowers, the stars, even rocks to pee behind...Our God is great and awaesome and mighty - I cant even comprehend how it all came together so prefectly...
Aside from all that..I was thinking (for once) as I sat on a rock gazing at the stars...Its great to be up on a mountain...everything seems to far away - work, hassle, problems, noise - its just so peaceful and beautiful that everything else seems to fade away and become irrelevant.
It made me think about resting on the mountain with God - just sitting in awe of Him and how amazing He is! But after the trip we had to come back down the mountain, back to work, back to everyday life with all its hassles...but we came back down (well i did haha) refreshed and restored, ready to face the world again!
Take time to rest on the mountain with God - get up there and meet with Him, talk to Him, listen to Him, sing to Him, praise Him...its sometimes tiring to get up there - after all its an uphill climb, but its so totally worth it cos its those times of restoration on the mountain tops that make you ready to face the valleys :-)
Praise God - keep the fire lit, keep seeking His face....

So im guessing that this might be your first visit to our homepage.....Well if it is let me tell u that u are more than welcome and we hope that u have a good look around the site .....as there are various photos , awesome articles from different members of the group and there are also some random funny pictures....
So let me give u the run down of a week at FIREoutreach. It goes alittle something like this......

Monday: 7pm in the escape (above the main church, use side steps) ...A time of worship and a different speaker every week. Alot of the surrounding unbelieving teenagers come along so it is a good way to wittness to them..........we then open up for hang out time afterwards. usually finishes around 10 pm

Thursday: Bible study at doos house dooboybrown@hotmail.com for more info email wil_key@hotmail.com that starts at 7pm and i think they are studing the book of romans after there 3 yr tour of the book of john nice!.

Friday: 7 30pm. Friday is our main youth night as we open the church in its entirity and have one heck of a worship time.....i will not try and explain it but please do come along ,u WILL meet jesus!!!!...
Around 9pm there is some sweet preaching by either Trevor donaghy pastorwoody@hotmail.com or Gary fail gfail49@hotmail.com . Afterwards we open the escape upstairs for whoever wants to hang out , now with its own reasonably priced tuck shop we stay open till around 11 30 pm

Saturday :7 30m. This night is geared alot like a friday night but we take each night as it comes , sometimes we would meet in different rooms or go out for coffee or something random like that . Also like friday and monday we have a time of worship and preaching.

I would encourage u to get involved with some of the above ....At FIREoutreach we believe that community brings freedom ....Whatever u are dealing with , we serve a God who is bigger than any issue or problem

If none of the above suits, u could perhaps get involved with other once in a while meetings and gatherings such as street preaching on a saturday or the M.I. Mens meetings revbrown1@hotmail.com

hmm weird day. crazy week. bad day but with good elementsi came home from bible study and my dad went into sainsburys so i had 20 minutes alone to think.and i was wondering why i felt so sad, for no reason. then i realised that maybe i was sad because i didnt feel close to Godbut then God saidwhy does your spirituality depend on your feelings and emotions. im more than that.i realised im not totally dead to my flesh and walking in the Spirit.and thats where i really want to be. and i remembered a scripture in luke, about the friend at midnight.at the end it says that the man will give his friend bread because he isnt ashamed to keep on asking, how much more will God give us his holy spirit when we ask?it dosent seem like the holy spirit is therei wonder what it would be like if it really wasnt there. id notice theni guess i gotta keep praying for my flesh to die. for selfish fleshly feelings to die because then i'll be walking in the spirit. its gonna be coolbut the best thing of all was when i was wondering 'how close is jesus to me' and next thing i found this preaching note page thingy id written ages ago and it said'as a shepherd carries a sheep, so i carry you close to my heart'and i realised that Jesus was very close to me. im gonna pray now. i guess i havent done that real proper in a while.love you's

It Is actually me - I am really posting!!!

Hi guys

Firstly sorry for my lack of participation on the blog lately, I genuinely have been flat out in work and not had time - Im actually too busy now but what the heck - I need to get a post in here b4 u all think im dead!!

I guess I have no idea what Im supposed to say - I wanted to say something encouraging, but whats in my head at the minute is merely thoughts of the past few weeks, so ill give u a run down on how ive been.

Ive been pretty crappy haha!! I have been tired, irritable and stressed out from work! Stevo has received the blunt end of most of it im afraid - but he has been an amazing friend!! I wish I could tell u why I have been so demotivated and tired all the time, or that I could put my finger on just what has me this way lately but I have no idea! The most amazing thing is....I dont care anymore! I have wasted the past few weeks entertaining thoughts of uselessness and inadequacy, feeling like life sucks and generally being a complete moan!

Last night in fact I broke down in a complete mess about my mum and was totally devastated about how crap it is that I have to feel this way and how much life sucks!

So as I was saying...I dont care anymore! Why? Cos guys, this has not been life, in fact I have never felt so dead in my whole entire life! This past few weeks has been a great opportunity for me to see that what I sow is exactly what I reap! And so again, I got on my knees, fell before God and acknowledged that I cant do it alone, I realised that the reasons behind why I was feeling so crap no longer matterd, but that what mattered was what I was going to do about it! Was I going to choose to moan and complain and be depressed, or pray and get set free! I decided on the latter! Im not saying that it all dissapeared over night, but I realised that I was happiest when I was in the Spirit, and I wanted it back so much, and I remembered that I can have it...if I choose to!

Yes I still get upset about stuff...I still miss my Mum, work is still stressful and at times I have a bad day...but Im being who God created me to be, as I heard from the Jason Upton CD (get a copy from Steve), im in His will and I have a chance to share Gods love everyday, I am a daughter of Christ, I have been set free and I have so so much to be thankful for and so so much to live for!

I have no idea if any of this is relevant to you at the minute or if im just waffling on as always, but please be encouraged that no matter what you go through, no matter how you feel or what you face, you have God in it all and that counts for so much, that makes life worth living and that gives u a reason to live, not survive, each day!

I just wanna tell u guys again how amazing you all are, and how much I love u all. I am so thankful for Kingsway, and for the community, the family, I have there! Each of you are special to God, you all have a purpose and each of you have the potential to see lives transformed and changed for the kingdon of God! I am so excited about what God has in store for us all, both individually and as a church! As I did this past few weeks, I had to get a fresh understanding of the truth - the truth of who I am in God, in who I was created to be, and that truth has the power to set people free (as I keep saying so much haha), and its that revelation that makes the enemy sweat, its that truth that leaves the enemy's camp in fear and trembling, and its that truth that gives us the power to see revival!

Lets dare to believe in who we are, in what we are and in what God can do! Lets get sold out for Christ get ready to run the race, to fight the battle, to face whatever the enemy thinks he can throw at us, and see him trampled down in the name of the Lord!

The Gothic culture leads young susceptible minds into the imagined world of evil ,darkness and violence . Please seek immediate attention through councilling, prayer , and parental guidance to ride your child of satans temptations if 5 or more of the following are applicable to your child........

So here we go guys brace yourselves for things u didnt know.

- Frequently wears black clothing.....Gothic or mormon

-Wears band or rock t shirts
-Wears excessive black eye makeup/ lipstick or nail polish
-Shows an interest in piercings and tattoos
-Listens to gothic music such as Marilyn Manson who claims to be the anti christ and publicly speaks against the Lord .....Please discard such albums IMMEDIATELY!!!!
-Associates with people that dress act or speak eccentrically
-Shows an declining interest in wholsome activities such as the bible prayer or church and sports
-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires , magic , the occult . witchcraft or anything else that invloves satan
-Takes drugs
-drinks alcohol
-Is suicidal or depressed
-Complains of boredom
-Sleeps to little or too much
-awake all night
-doesnt like sunlight (this pertains to vampires promoting the idea that his light is of no use
-Demands an unusual amount of privacy
-spends large amounts of time alone ( yeah all the goths at city hall are all standing alone)
-requests time alone (all three of thses are the same) so ur child can speak to evil spirits through meditation .....well out the window goes the idea that i could be doing homework or doing a jiggsaw.......now i know what may parents thought when i was alone
-Insists on spendin time with friends without parents .........U know what i mean u wanna go to the cinema with ur girlfriend and of course ur dad wnats to come.
-Disregards athourity figures such as teachers , preists , nuns ,tesco managers
-if ur name is lassie finbar or levi
- u have an overwhleming desire to stroke or own a beard or keep one in a box and feed it .
-Eats goth related foods such as the foods everyone in the whole world eats or if not that vampire cereal.....i dont think tescos do that!!
-watches cable tv or any corrupted media sources ( ask ur loacl church for proper programmes to watch) RTE!!!
-Uses the internet all the time
-Expresses an interest in Sex...... "Mom we learned about sex today in school" ....AH NO!! son i cant believe it ur a goth!!!
-Is homosexual or bi
Wears pins or badges saying "Im so gothic im dead" " woe is me" Im a goth" Jesus loves u " ............oh wait.
-Claims to be a goth........well there u go u only need one of these to be a goth not 5 just claim u are one

If 5 or more of these apply to ur child please intervene immediantly . proceed to the nearest primark or second hand store to buy ur child proper clothing . If the problems persist please enlist your child into the nearest mental health center......

So there u have it guys ....How do u measure up...

Announcing up and coming M.i. Meetings ......

Now u are probably saying to yourself what is M.I. all about.....well im gonna tell u now .....

Starting very very soon we are starting a "Christian Mens" group which will meet perhaps every 2 weeks in various locations ie. Roast or some random coffee place........Probably on a tuesday or wedensday evening.

M.I. .............This stands for Men of Integrity......

We will meet together to talk and pray about being men of God , of prayer , of the word , Buliding one another up as Men of Integrity, growing to love one another as brothers. and lots and lots of other exciting things hehe

Hello all!

Yes it has been a while since i have written to u good people of blogg world......and i know u have been waiting patiently, holding in your excitment haha!!

So some random things i thought were pretty sweet over the last couple of days.......I love walking , and for some strange reason i love walking home from belfast on saturday nights , cus its such a sweet time to talk and see all the weird night life ....well i got to do that last saturday with.............wait for it............ LEVI!! YAY! it was awsome , we talked about everything under the sun then we stopped off at my old youth club in finaghy then unto bills hehe..... good times indeed....

Then came sunday , doo has already posted about the youth service but again i say that u all did excellently , " I BELIEVE ITS BLACK" haha ....

Monday night (last night) saw us do the monday night outreach which was pretty sweet i was thinking , alan brought a nice word on what do we lean upon in life. For the second part of the night i just got this real strong feeling of how much of a family we are , i mean just sittin watching u guys play that chinese checkers game filled me with such joy .......Then we had the old communal "passing of the meat" game yeah laura and hanna rock!!!! haha and i got some sweet time with rebecca and i bought her a coke awwwwww hehe!...

Yeah so alot of things there , i guess i just spat all that out in one go ....in fact just like that kebab and sauce flying all out of hannas mouth .....ahh memories!......

In other news.......
Domonic finally beat me at something , i mean lets face it i beat him at pool and arm wrestling but he indeed redeemed himself by creaming me twice last night .......Good one dom!

And last but never least ....Mz Gornik will be arriving on fri afternoon for the weekend so look out for all that to come ....

Great Job this morning guys. everybody did themselves proud. Everyobody loved the drama btw. Good job everyone involved in that, and the testimonies were amazing. Wasn't it amazing that a lot of the stuff that bill was preaching was straight out of our bible study on thursday night? and he wasn't even there! I especially liked his brainwashing line-

People say christianity is a brainwashing. WEll, thats good, if you wash shomething then it gets clean- better that than braindirtying!

thats amazing cos on saturday night leo and i spent our entire bus journey home from dublin talking to two girls about jesus, and leo actually used that analagy! the two girls are girls from our school, and they were really getting life from everything we said. expect to see them in a community near you, coming soon!

Who will not believe us, if we witness together the truth you gave us? If we act on the spirit and be built up by one another that we may not be embarrassed or ashamed. That we may have joy and act as You would have us act. Like Your Son. Fill us with joy together. Jumping with joy like lambs in the stall. Fill us with each other and You. We may know the truths that You have revealed to each one of us, together we will bring them. And believe as one another believes. Pray as one another pray. And be joyful at one another’s joys. That we may also be sorrowful with others so that we will be one. In spirit, emotion and in what we love. And this is You Lord. Piece it together like a jigsaw and build up all our revelations, that we may all share what the other shares with You. It’s moments like this when Your Spirit will descend in its physical form and build us up so that we will believe with our eyes as we believe with our hearts. That the truth in what we believe may be shown to others, manifested among us. The power that we each have in You, passed on and shared like our hearts. That we may become one as Your son Jesus declared. yes thats right- its that special time of year again. its a long time until the christmas dinner, and there is nothing pressing us in a large scale organisational sort of way. It's time do do something crazy, something radical, something for Jesus, something like- THE YOUTH SERVICE! with drama from julie francis, testimonies from finbarr and levi (among others) and preaching from bill brannan- this is not a service to be missed. especially if your one of the people i just mentioned COS YOU'RE TAKING PART!

seriously tho guys, i would love to have a full turn out (except davey cos he has an excuse) so that we can really make this a great service. Even if your not directly involved then we are having open mic prayer during the worship- just like friday nights- so feel free to get up and pray, or prophesy or sing a spontanaeous song or maybe even cast out a demon. these youth services are notoriously amazing, and for many of you it will be your first time. I would love to see members of the youth group who don't usually come to sunday services come along too. I'm talkin about Ben and Pete, Hannah, Chris Grant (cos i havent seen you in ages and i have a CD for you) etc etc.

God Bless you all. Can't wait to see you all on thurs/fri/sat/sunday depending on what day you read this.

How do I know? Because this is the longing of creation itself, the groaning of the Spirit, the very dream of God.

hey there y'all

stephen and i were talking again. We were trying to think of ways to make this page more interactive- more useful. We figured it would be good to start some discussion or get some ideas from you guys about the running of your youth group- cos yes it is your youth group. i though i'd start by giving a little bit of perspective. This time last year the following people were'nt part of fire youth group. Julie, Finbarr, Davey, Levi, Lassie, Laura, Rebecca, chris and hannah. ( if i forgot you im sorry!) and now these 9 people are integral parts of our group. Also, we have seen our meetings go from 1 a week to 5 a week. and there are countless non-christians coming to them and being ministered to in ways we can't yet see. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we have undergone a huge chnage in the last year- even the last 7 or 8 months. and we have had to adapt quickly to cope with that.

so what i want you guys to do is to tell us what you think of the way the group runs- the bits you love- the bits you hate- things that you'd like to see happen- ideas for change etc. anything which you feel is useful feedback and will be edifying for the group would be much apprectiated. So comment away. Can't wait to hear how much you love bible study ;) !

it's the doomesiter here with some thoughts for the new year.

i love ye's- thats thought number one

thought number two is real good too. and it has to do with love, but it might be harder to swallow. i was talking to my main man, Stevie b last night and we were talking about some of the problems we were experiencing in our meetings recently (you know what im talking about). we agreed that it was hard to love the perpetrators of these offences, but until we learned to do so, there would be absolutely no power to overcome it. unless we care enough about people to actually pray for them and implore God to fill us with his love, then we will never be able to speak life or freedom to them. I won't say too much be or be too specific, as after all, this is a publiv website. but get praying guys, until you breakthrough in the closet, how are we gonna break through as a a group in our meetings. for more thoughts on this, drop me an email or give me a call.

on the same sort of track- we need to fix our eyes on Jesus- especially in our meetings. In thursday's bible study peter said- 'whatever you fear- that you worship' thats a pretty extreme paraphrase, but its roughly what he said. and its true- in collossians paul says- do not be mindful of the flesh, but set your mind on heavenly things. In our meetings, don't even pay attention to what going on around you. If your scared of what people will think of you, then pray that god will make you blind to their stares. Just worship Jesus- you will find that as you submit to his spirit you will find it easier to enter in and forg about whats going on around you. remember to look with the eyes of faith and not of the flesh.

Well the end of the year approaches and all the meetings for this year are done and dusted!!......
Its been an awsome year wouldnt u agree guys!........We have seen by far that God is amazing , that Jesus is most definatly Lord over every situation , No matter what were going through he makes us more than conquerers!!!!....

Heres a Question......How much room is there for God in your life???........As we come into a new year (in some cheesy way) its a new start....Maybe uve been living below what God has for u , maybe burdens have gotten hold of u in such a way that u feel that ur not worthy to worship him ...... I encourage u to jump head first into God this Year...to be totally dominated by God , to say "God im not hungry anymore , im STARVING!! I want u to saturate me in ways that ive never known .............Leonard ravenhill said "it only takes a man to be filled with the annointing for one hour and he can change history" ...this year will it be u .....is it gonna be levi, is it gonna be finbar , davey , hanna , rachael, louise , bekki , mikey, chris , julie, bill to name a few , Guys he answers the heart that crys!!!!!.....

Alright, change of plan guys. Bible study will be held in the church at 7.00 on thursday night. Yes, its the christmas season again and the time has come to get off my back side and earn my keep at castle brown by utilising my God-given talents to obtain money from the generous people of Belfast. So consequently i shall not be around on thursday night, and Peter shall be taking up the mantle. If anyone's in town for late night shopping tomorrow night, or indeed any night next week make sure to come down and say hi- i'll be outside British Home Stores near the band stand. You can hear us for miles around.

Praise Jesus ......Victory is ours in Jesus Christ........So many people have been posting on this site ..im even hearing of people who arent part of our outreach here , being shown this site by friends in school and work and such.....That is amazing!

As christians, Jesus has made us more than overcomers...Yes it is true that everyday we come up against all sorts of trials and temptations....Our faith can pushed and pulled and stretched and sometimes we feel at the end of our ropes. So many people feel so burdened and have such a feeling of failure and condemnation that they doubt they are even saved. They might be thinking " Where is that joy and peace i had when i first got saved?" ..

Heres a simple test.......

In your heart of hearts (even though all hell is breaking lose and u feel the worst) do u wanna serve God and give him everything u can in this life.......Do u long for his glory and presence?
If your answer is yes, its a good place to be .....When we call on his name in times of trouble and trials he lifts us up as we lift him up .......
People who have tried and tried to "live the religious life" can spend their whole lives begging for God to move in their lives , and i dont believe for a second that he will......
Now before u just down my throat let me explain......
The bible does not say that we are hopers or beggars , it calls us BELIEVERS.......
I believe if Jesus stood before me today he could not heal me....whys that ?? Because he already has done ......He once paid for our sins. All our trials , troubles, tribulations , worries , disease , sickness , worry , insecurities ....He cannot do it again....It was already taken care of at the cross.
U see guys it is when we stop begging God to do something in our lives, and with the eyes of faith turn around and say " thankyou God for ALREADY dealing with my sin , my insecurites , my pains....People begging God for years can turn around their situation by thanking God for what he has already done in and through his son , Christ Jesus .....I urge u today to grab hold by faith what is yours in Christ Jesus.....To break out of old bondage and sins , and taste the peace , joy , love and forgiveness that has already been poured out for u as a blood sacrafice .......Its yours today!!.......

Hi guys

Just wanted to get in my little bit - thought u all looked totally amazing on Friday night! Sophisticated is the word that springs to mind, along with other words that I may not be able to say on here - as it seems my last post containing the word 'damn' has disappeared??? And before I got to read the comments that were apparently left (ill speak to you about that tonight Stevo!!)

The christmas bash was, in my opinion, a complete success and I was well chuffed at the effort that everyone made! Ben's 'extremely excited' christmas hat brought me great amusment, Stephen ripping his crotch was a priceless moment also ;-) But really, all the guys looked totally amazing, and some smelt particularly delicious as well ;-) The laydees all looked totally fab, and there should definately have been a red carpet rolled out for photographs!!

The food was wonderful, Im sure you will all agree, although the lack of time and oven space to cook my famous Yorkshire Puddings left me somewhat distressed!! The sprouts were good, i love sprouts! Apologies that the gravy and custard could have been better - I was in a hurry and I messed up a bit!

All in all an amazing evening! It was an amazing candle lit moment when I walked into the hall and you were all seated and laughing and having fellowship, at that moment there was no other place in the world that i wanted to be. I am so honoured that God has led me to be with you guys, each of you mean the world to me, and have been there for me when I needed you most. You all bring an individual and different influence into my life, and I cant imagine not having you all! Oh dear ive gone into an essay again - sorry, just know that I love you all so so much! I have to say it. i'm absolutely disgusted. i can't believe that a crime against nature like this has been committed. nobody has yet commented on the photo of the ladies. So i will comment now. ladies- you did yourselves proud. a stunning turn out, stunning being the operative word. and guys- what can i say- we all looked amazing- just swish. I would like to thank Mr stephen Brown, Mz Julie Francis, Mz Pat Riddel, my main man Mr Dominic Chambers, and especially Laura and Rebecca who all did what i think we all agree was an incredible Job with the food.It was definitely the best Christmas dinner i've had so far this year. But seriouisly well done guys.

If only i'd read Davey's request for some impromptu worship before last night. we could have had a sweet time and praised the Lord. Well i'll praise him now for giving us such a wonderful night, and giving me the opportunity to spend it with all you wonderful people.

Well the Christmas dinner tables have been layed , potatoes peeled , smelly sofas in place( all will be revealed) We are well on our way in this being the outreaches second christmas dinner , goin from 17 people last year to 31 this year.....Its awesome that we have to move to a bigger room to accomodate so many people ....... Praise the Lord!!

So remember 730pm tomorrow night at the church , it should be a goodin, I cant wait to see everyone in a room at once!! .

Also a massive welcome home to Mz Caroline Crawford , who is just back from her stay in America , Most of u are already getting to know her , she is a sweet lady.

Well im off to do other less important things than updating this blogg

Ok so I really dont have a clue how to use this thing yet - last nite I was sure I had understood, but really.....I dont! Yes its true - I am thick!! However, I am also excited that we have this new and amazing form of communication....brought to us by Stevie Brown!!! Now all of ya get on and start posting random messages of madness to keep me entertained throughout the day! See ya all at the dinner tomorrow nite - cant wait. I am a little disgusted at the thought of me in a dress (sorry for any unwanted mental images I have now created), but hey I am actually wearing a dress - its a big step for me!!! see ya all soon, love ya all loads :-)

i would just like to say how cool this is. I dont usually get excited about computer stuff, so i'm obviously spending too much time with Stephen.
